Bird--you're right !!--I found both musician's names online with this song when I was looking up the lyrics.

I guess Meridith Brooks was the first one to record it.

It looks better with Alanis Morissett's name doesn't it ?? I mean--who the hell is Meridith Brooks anyway ?? LOL

This is like her one hit wonder !

lol Wendy, I like her version of the song I have not heard anyone else sing it its a great song I need to listen to it today sense I have been nothing shy of a Beotch lately lol I look at my behavior lately and think Where did that come from? Sometimes when you are a nice person you have to let the Beotch side out or no body takes you seriously so I guess until I am taken seriously it will stick with me...... Love ya hope you all enjoy this absolutely beautiful Spring day :) crap! That wasn't Beotchy at all well do it anyway :)

"Razors pain you;

Rivers are damp;

Acids stain you;

And drugs cause cramp.

Guns aren’t lawful;

Nooses give;

Gas smells awful;

You might as well live.”

That one leaves me feeling icky girly, I get it but leaves me with a ??? feeling

thats it for me this week I will be gone till Monday I hope some of you like the three Poems I found as they all touch me differently I feel strongly in the power of words. The song we all sing the story we all tell you cant really even come close if you cant feel it if you do not truly believe it. If you don't want it so bad you can taste it even if it seems so far out of your reach. Life is to short to waste it in an office gaining a pay check look at all the time wasted. My wish for all of you the rest of this week is to go out and be extraordinary. :)

"No home, no home," said a little girl

At the door of a rich man's home.

She trembling stood on the marble steps,

And leaned on the polished wall.

Her clothes were thin and her feet were bare,

And the snowflakes covered her head.

"Let me come in," she feebly said,

"Please give me a little bread."

As the little girl still trembling stood

Before that rich man's door,

With a frowning face he scornfully said,

"No room, no bread for the poor."

Then the rich man went to his table so fine

Where he and his family were fed.

And the orphan stood in the snow so deep,

As she cried for a piece of bread.

The rich man slept on his velvet couch,

And he dreamed of his silver and gold,

While the orphan lay in a bed of snow,

And murmured, "So cold, so cold."

The hours rolled on through the midnight storm,

Rolled on like a funeral bell,

The sleet came down in a blinding sheet,

And the drifting snow still fell.

When morning came the little girl

Still lay at the rich man's door.

But her soul had fled away to its home

Where there's room and there's bread for the poor.

- From a Doc Watson song "Little Orphan Girl," though I don't think he originated the words

"Are You Lonesome Tonight,

Do You Miss Me Tonight...

Does Your Memory Stray To A Bright Sunny Day...

When I Kissed You And Called You Sweetheart...

Do The Chairs In Your Parlor Seem Empty and Bare...

Do You Gaze At Your Doorstep and Picture ME There...

Is Your Heart Filled With Pain, Shall I Come Back Again...

Tell Me Dear, Are You Lonesome Tonight..."

You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht

Your hat strategically dipped below one eye

Your scarf it was apricot

You had one eye in the mirror as you watched yourself gavotte

And all the girls dreamed that they'd be your partner

They'd be your partner, and...

You're so vain, you probably think this song is about you

You're so vain, I'll bet you think this song is about you ...

~ Carly Simon
