Sex And Religion

I am torn between too worlds, being a Christian but loving sex. I am married and I just bought my first "real" sex toys. I had a few before but I always felt gulilty about using them and would end up getting rid of them along with a few adult videos I bought. I felt I wasn't living the lifestyle of a Christian. Last week I bought my toys wanting to bring the adventure back in to the bed room. My hormones finally taking over and my husband really seemed to enjoy it. Him, a wonderful Christian man would would have probably never brought the idea to me himself. Now I wanted to take it a bit further and got some adult movies on order. I told him I wanted to start watching porn with him now. The whole idea turns me on so much! What I am wondering is if this is a double standard life? I know you aren't a priest, I just want to know what your thoughts are on sex and religion. Is it wrong to have these lustful feelings? And if so, whats a girl to do! Anyone, add your advice, there are a lot of church going, crazy sex freaks out there I am sure!! Thanks!

Lori,

There is nothing in the Christian "religion" that says anything about sex should not be enjoyed or that sex toys are prohibited. :D Some preachers, that say negative things about Christian sexuality, have made these pronouncements to maintain male control over religion and to keep women under males' control. All of that stuff is HOGWASH! There is nothing of the sort in the Bible that puts a negative connotation on human sexuality. Read the Song of Songs (Solomon) and see the pleasures a woman gives her lover.

If you want to check the validity of what I'm saying, one of the best sites is

Liberated Christians - Sex & Sensuality Education For Pleasure, at:

http://www.libchrist.com/sexed/contents.html

There are several Christian Sexuality discussion groups on MSN, Yahoo and Delphi. Browse through the public postings, or join the groups to ask your questions or read the postings of others with similar concerns.

Here are a couple of the Yahoo Groups... There are many:

ChristianSexuality

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ChristianSexuality/

A safe place for Spirit-filled Christian believers to openly, candidly, honestly discuss sexuality. This will be a moderated, restricted group so that all members can feel comfortable to talk share our most intimate experiences without fear or intimidation. I am starting this group because I know I often struggle with issues such as what is and is not acceptable in the will of God. I will not restrict what can and cannot be discussed here, but please keep in mind that we are a CHRISTIAN group.

WELCOME ALL ! Please JOIN us. Life circumstance and age do not matter, we want your input. Sexuality: Coping as a Christian is a great place to be! Just ask some of our members:) I'd say we're a bunch of people who wish to glorify God through ALL of our actions, but we focus here on our sexuality. You know, the butterfly is the symbol of renewal. I learned that from my pastor. My hope is that our society will soon see a sexual renewal glorifying the Lord. Join our club, and join in the movement.

There are several on Delphi Forums too:

One I belong to is:

http://forums.delphiforums.com/libchrist/messages

There you will find open, caring ministerial and lay people to answer your questions on Christian sexuality. There have been many who've joined with similar questions as yours, so you may find your answers in some of the more recent messages.

Another is Spiritual Sex at:

http://forums.delphiforums.com/sexychristians/messages

MSN is quite restrictive on their search engine, so you'll have to dig a bit to find the groups that I know are there.

Yahoo Groups has several too: But, like MSN, their search engine has become PC, so you'll have to dig a bit, but there are several there.

One of the best, in my opinion is:

The Marriage Bed

The Marriage Bed discussion boards: sex and intimacy from a Christian perspective.

NOTE: Some topics can only be read by members of the TMB boards.

TMB is at:

http://www.themarriagebed.com/boards/

Believe me, you are not alone in your struggle with sexuality and the Christian religion. That's why there are so many places where you can find answers and support as you begin your exploration of God's wonderful gift to us all.

Lee,

Thanks so much!! Your information is a great help and really puts things into better perspective for me. It is a wonderful feeling to be comfortable in life and sexuality. You can't hide from God and to feel shameful is no way to live. I am just so glad that I don't have to feel like I am turning my back on Him. Thank you so much for replying to my post and I will definitly look into all those suggested sites and share them with others who may be dealing with the same issues. Again, thank you so much, you helped more then you know!!

Lori

Well when my gf and I first started going out the first thing she said to me was no sex before marriage. We are both Born Again tho I have been away from regular attendance. Her faith is stronger than mine also. It wasn't long after we began to get to know each other that she was having trouble dealing with the feelings she was having. She has spoken with several women friends who have advised her to listen to her body and enjoy her sexuality...and she has been doing so-with my assistance. My Baby also reached the conclusion that God wouldn't have given us the ability to enjoy such intense feelings without expecting us to enjoy those feelings with the opposite sex. We haven't gone "all the way" yet tho we have enjoyed each other immensely...we have much more in common than just good sex and I believe I am falling in love with her. I am very happy with my sweetie and she feels the same for me. I hope this helps :) 12G
