Is He Making Me Sick?

The hubby and I have been married almost a year. I was a virgin and came from a prudish home and he was a bit more experienced. While I have learned to throw off the boundaries in the bedroom there are somethings I don't have the guts to ask someone close to me about.

1) I've noticed that every time I go down on him I get a sore throat the next morning.

2) Frequently after sex I itch.

Is he making me sick and is this something that can be handled with otc stuff of does one of us need to go to the dr?

The sore throat can just be the use of the muscles in your throat. After a significant time of using my tongue on my wife I get the same sort of feeling in the back of my throat too.

As far as the itching goes, well, some people react to semen that way if its left on them. Do you have unprotected sex? On the other hand, if you are having protected sex, some people are also allergic to latex. Either way is possible.

Thurisas.

Learning to define your own values and morals in a committed relationship is one of the biggest struggles with any upbringing. "prudish" or more tolerant upbringing doesn't matter if you cannot communicate with your lover.
1) I've noticed that every time I go down on him I get a sore throat the next morning.

You may have a muscle ache if you are not used to this activity, but if it feels scratchy or sore inside it could be irritation from the semen, or if you are using a condom, a latex sensitivity. Rarely men can harbor yeast at the head of the penis, but unless you are having white patches on your tongue or soreness all the time this is unlikely.

2) Frequently after sex I itch.
Again if you are using a condom or spermicidal lubricant, it is possible you are developing a sensitivity. If you are not using enough lubrication you can sometimes develop friction burns that can be tender or itch the next day. Also the pH of semen is very different from that of the vagina, and for some women sex can shift this delicate balance and trigger normal overgrowth of yeast or bacteria. If you have a fishy like smell after sex you may have this normal bacterial overgrowth (called BV or bacterial vaginosis), but I cannot diagnose you over the computer. We humble "sexperts" here can only offer ideas. You may want to follow up with your GYN to see if there is any thing else going on.

At the very least talk with your husband about your concerns. Let him know that you are finding the bedroom an exciting learning experience, but that you are concerned about some physical symptoms the next day.

There's some great advise here. I would also like to add that, if you have any food allergies, and your hubby eats the foods you're allergic too, that may cause an allergic reaction too, though it's quite rare to be THAT sensitive.

I guess we need a bit more info.

If it's a true cause for concern, and your hubby isn't being affected by this physically, then I would suggest you make an appointment with a gynocologist.
