Internet Explorer Warning

So this warning that has come out about Internet Explorer has me spooked. Do you think the patch that Microsoft is pitching will take care of the problem safely or do you think it's best to go with another browser altogether? I started to download Firefox yesterday after reading about all this but the first time I tried it didn't work and everytime I tried to pull it up and do it the "from" address in the Run box said something different so I was worried that maybe I wasn't going to get a legitimate version even though I was on the official Firefox site and just quit. What do the computer experts on here suggest?

I haven't heard of anything in regards to a patch. That's new news to me. I personally use Safari on my parents computer no problems. I use Mozilla on my friend's comp and no problems there either. To get it you should be able to get Mozilla from their site or you can get Safari from apple.com or if you have an I-Pod you can get it through that. If you need help getting Safari let me know.

Yes. Do you use it? Does it change anything or cause any complications in Yahoo or Yahoo Messenger?

Should work just fine with both. Mozilla's Firefox is a great browser and more secure that Internet Explorer. I use it 99% of the time. The Mozilla community also provide add-ons that are really useful, including some security related ones.

What happened when you tried to install the program?

I got an "execution error" message. Will try to load it again later tonight since you guys recommend it.

Its possible that it did not install correctly. Sometimes happens with any program. If problem continues, uninstall the program. Use the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAM provided by Microsoft. Then try re-installing Firefox again.

Could mean there's a corrupted .dll file.

Try reinstalling it, if it happens again - we'll from there.

I always suggest firefox. The security and the coding is better so it's just plain harder for virus, worms, and other evil things to get in, plus you get less pop-ups and it fliters your cookies better. The patches though the Microsoft put out there are, generally speaking, damn good. Microsoft is really good at fixing mistakes, now if tey could just stop making them....

Now if you had troube installing it, check your add/remove programs list to see if any of it installed. If not, then simply re-download and start from scratch. Make sure you close all other programs though. This is really just a precaution as it SHOULDN'T cause any problems, but ya never know. If you still have trouble loading it, hop on Mozilla website and talk to a technician.

I have only recently installed this browser bu it is much more reliable than IE. Personally I think MS made a profit over product flip and it really pisses me off to know how much it costs to own such a piece of shit OS! (I do still use IE quite a bit but I find the continuous updates to be a nuisance). Most of the updates take a few days to even show up so you have to either wait or enter at your own risk.

Mozilla, on the other hand, seems to be a major up and comer that offers most of their programs for free and has very few security problems. I also upgraded to the 3.0 version also and have found a lot of add-ons that I use. Although you have to download them one at a time you know exactly what is there. The download manager allows you to enable/disable any app. with just a few clicks.

One suggestion I would make is to stay away from any BETA releases at least for a while until they have most of the kinks worked out of them. And it is probably best if you uninstall the program that didn't work and delete the app that you used for it. Then you can get a new copy of it from the Mozilla site! Hope you enjoy your new browser!
