One end was heart shaped plastic to look like leather, the middle long rod was black covered metal and the end had a plastic handle. I really loved it when my partner used the metal end and ran that over my body applying pressure to my thighs (kinda of like a rolling pin). The sensation was really cool. When he used the crop to hit me it definitely did produce a bite, but one that was really enjoyable. Overall the crop worked well. My one complaint is that the glue they use for the heart shaped part is pretty strong and when i hid the crop in a drawer the smell was overpowering in a small space, so i'd recommend hiding it or hanging it in a more airy space.
