I've been getting a urinary tract infection every month since I started having intercourse. My doctor says that they have been mild and hasn't sent me to a urologist yet. It's very annoying though, and costs me a lot of money in doctor visits. I know its from having sex cause I left for Japan and just came back home and can feel another one developing. Has anyone else had similar problems? Should I go to a urologist anyway, or maybe a gyno? I'm sure theres some way to treat this!

Yes, you need to see either a urologist or a gyn. There may be a problem that is easy to fix, but requires a little more testing or something. It could be as simple as something to do with the travel you're doing. It may be that you need to urinate and clean off right after sex. Please get it checked out.

There are wayyyyy too many medical reasons why this could be happening to you. The fact that your doctor will not refer you to a specialist when they happen this frequently scares the heck out of me for you! Go to a gynecologist, no insurance makes you refer for one. Tell her what is going on and she can check you for cysts or fibroids along with other important factors.

In the meantime, let me ask you this: do you go to the bathroom before and immediately after sex? Do you clean yourself well after? Do you use condoms? Do you also get a lot of yeast infections? Do you use toys? IF so, do you make sure they are disinfected? Do you ever go ass to pussy? How much water do you drink per day?

Answer me some of those questions and make an appointment for a gyne TODAY!

Ok! I went back to my doctor and she set me up with a urologist last Friday. It was what I thought, I just need to take a pill every time I have sex. I had discussed my problems with my pianist a while back and she said thats what they did for her. I knew it wasn't something I was doing cause I always keep my toys clean, drink tons of water, bathroom after sex, etc b/c of all those utis I kept getting. So no worries. My urologist said thats its pretty common among younger women and it's not a big deal. I also went to my obgyn and he said I was all clear. However, what I forgot to ask either one of them (I'll talk to a pharmacist when I go pick it up), is if my new medication will affect my birth control. My urologist knows I'm on bc and didn't say anything, but I want to be sure. I think it may be a low dose of microbid, I couldn't really make out his hand writing, I'll update again when I know for sure.

So for anyone else that has this problem, just go to the urologist and get a prescription.
