This thread is very interesting. Almost everyone here states that the desire for plastic surgery is to address an insecurity..........but i think you can want and have surgery just because you want to! I used to examine women with breasts of all sizes. Implants, normal, post-breastfeeding, older (relative, right?), younger, big and little. You can usually feel implants, but saline ones, the most commonly implanted, are much softer than silicone. You may or may not have a scar to contend with depending or where the surgeon makes the incision. Talk to her/him about where you would like it..there are multiple possibilities. Sensation varies and can return after a period of time. Those who have incisions around the nipple can have reduced sensation. Sometimes the whole breast has reduced sensation. Many women can and do breastfeed after augmentation. Some cannot and some make decreased milk. It can depend on where the incision is made...around the nipple seems to cause more trouble for breastfeeding. Breastfeeding your child is a very precious activity to give up...one can always CHOOSE not to breastfeed. Many, many of my patients have had implants and probably 1/2 would say they would not do it again. Usually because of complications..the implant moves, scar tissue contracts around the implant, it leaks, etc. No one ever said they were unhappy with the way they looked. Most of the happy ones wish they had gone bigger!!! Try the size you want to be...buy a C or D cup and stuff it. Put on a sweater or form fitting shirt. Do you like what you see? Would you like it being naked? Wear it for a day...go shopping or out someplace new...see how you feel. Sometimes you want something just because you want it...not because you are insecure. Breasts are beautiful..big, little, huge, tiny..........
