After the short anal canal which connects the anal opening to the rectum, the rectum tilts toward the front of the body. A few inches in, it curves back - sometimes as much as 90 degrees. Then, after a few more inches, it swoops toward the front of the body once again. "Does this mean that when my partner fucks me, his penis has to bend 90 degrees once and then bend at another juncture? Would that not be really painful? Or is it that the "anal avenue" will straighten during sex (in which case it might be really painful for me)? I am 31, have had anal sex three times over the years, with different partners; two of them were so painful that I had to stop at once. I have now taken up the suggestion of exploring my anus during shower; tonight, I snugged up three quarters of my middle finger into my anus with no difficulty and I could feel clearly the first 90 degree turn but then the end I reached was just a mass of tissues that were soft and I was not sure whether they are the inner wall of the colon or they are my feces. Am I supposed to go further than this or not? I did not feel the second turn yet - would I be able to go further with a dildo? I am also trying to follow the instruction to do the kegel exercise (though I am not sure if I have done it right - I am not very conscious of the way one cuts off the urine or gas). I would just like to practise more and have the mental picture of what really goes on so the next time I do it, I would relax more easily. Most men usually don't put their entire cock up your anus. Anal toys are usually short, or, if they're longer, they are very bendy, for that reason.Start off small, like with small toys, bendy toys, and fingers. I didn't realise that most people having anal sex do not go "all the way" - as they do seem to do that in porn movies. Presumably you are saying that most penises cannot go all the way because of the bends and turns? With a little bit (but not too much) flexibility. If a toy is TOO flexible, it won't go up there without A LOT of work. Gradually easing into it, again with LOTSA lube is the best and easiest way. Remember, if you feel PAIN, then stop what you're doing. There will be DISCOMFORT, which some people confuse with PAIN. DISCOMFORT will be your body tensing, feeling pressure, and a totally natural feeling to PUSH instead of relaxing and letting the toy go UP, instead of OUT. No, they are not "hard" bends... think of them more like folds in a fabric bag. If your lover takes his time when he penetrates you, his cock will straighten out the bends until his full length is inside you.
