Tyger
OK, so, I had to reschedule my Woman's Wellness Exam, since my original appt. was cancelled the SAME FREAKIN' DAY OF the appt. I get one for the next day. Cool! OK, so I get in today, and I had told the nurse, when I called to schedule the appt. WHY I was going in there: Woman's Wellness Visit AND to get Mirena ordered. I get there, all stats taken (again, since this is a different clinic than my normal one...), and when I talk with the Dr. she says that I have to go to a GYN to get that "fitted", cuz they don't do that there.....WTF??? Why in the f*ck wasn't I told this at the first clinic, or when I called to schedule the appt. at this one??? I would've just GONE to a GYN in the f*ckin' first place, and had it ALL done there!!!! Jeeeeeez! I tell my nurse all my stuff, concerns, history, current health issues, whatnot, and then the doctor comes in and asks me the exact same questions! Why bother asking me in the first place, if the Dr. is not going to even bother reading my file first??? C'mon, how HARD can that be????So, I have to wait until NEXT Fri, when my results are in, then find an GYN, spend another $20 co-pay, to go and have ANOTHER consultation, and possibly ANOTHER speculum up my crotch, to get "fitted", then probably ANOTHER freakin' co-pay to have it inserted. I have NEVER heard of being "fitted" for one before.....crazy!!!!Oh, and let me just tell you why I went to the other clinic. It was because the NP wasn't going to be at the clinic closer to me, for another month, for some reason. And, I prefer to have a female doctor or NP examine my most private parts. Just a personal preference. Well, this doctor was nice to talk with, and very professional as far as the beginning of the exam, BUT when it came to the exam *down there*, she was rougher than I'd ever experienced!! OMG!! I felt almost like she should've at least hugged me for a bit!!! Gawd!!

Members Zildjian
wtf indeed. I had Mirena "installed" in january at the obgyn. My primary care physician usually does my annual pap test, so she did one first and tested for STDs (here they have to do that by law before giving you and IUD) and then I had to set up an apt with the ob. So I guess I had to have 2 apts too, but at least that was explained up front. My regular dr. was not "allowed" to do the Mirena insertion. It had to be an obgyn. And make sure you know who will be inserting Mirena for you, make sure it's not someone with a rough hand. It is a PAINFUL process. Take motrin an hour before your apt! Members jad20fan
I have a Merina too and I didn't have to get "fitted" for it. I just made an appt with an OB/GYN, told him about my heavy flow and he suggested the Merina. They ordered it and I came back and had it put in. They did not test me for STDs but my birth constrol method was absitnance at the time. Now the insertion was not easy because of a tilted cervix and it wasn't dialated like it should have been at that time of the month. The doctor kept apologizing and when he was done and had left the room, the nurse said she had never seen it take that long to insert one. Leave it to me to be difficult!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Take Zildjian's advice and take something before you go. You may spot a little afterwards too so don't be surprised.Hope the next appt goes well for you.

Members Sailor Girl
Hi Tyger. Just anote, your member name, fits you quite well. I remember making my first question on the boards, and wow, for a minute I thought you were going to claw me, grin. I can't use the graphics thing, sorry about the spelling of the words. Anyway you're so scaring me to get one of those done, not the Marina, but the pap test. I know i need another one,but metal, in private land? No thanks, the last time, they used one but it's to small. I also prefer a woman looking in woman land. So they go and get another one but it was one of those ones that had come from the sterilization department. I used to work in there. Now I know what body heat feels like, and metal heat? Scared me! Lol, seriously I hope you get your apt and things are good for you and the other woman who needs them to stop. Talk soon, sorry for the length. Tyger
UGH!!! It was just a PITA!! LOL Sorry Sailor Girl! LOL Anyway, the clinic I went to actually had plastic speculums, wrapped individually in plastic bags, and when they're done, they just throw them away. It wasn't so bad. I just didn't like how rough she was.
