Guest eminatic
now this happened LAST summer so its been almost a freaking YEAR and it will. not. heal. i have been to several doctors including a gastrointerologist (who specializes in the rectum) and NOTHING ive tried has worked. he gave me a sort of laxative because it was getting to the point where i stopped eating because it hurt to go to the bathroom. i've been using it for almost a year now and its not painful anymore, but the tear is STILL there the same size as when it first happened. i also have been using a sitz bath. its really frustrating me because i really enjoyed anal and want to try it again someday but nothing i do will make it heal god i cant even put into words how upset i am over this, and how TIRED i am with dealing with it. im only 19 (was 18 when it happened) and i cant visit my home state because i cant spend the night with my friends without having to explain that i need to take a giant dose of powder laxative every night. does anyone know if theres ANYTHING else out there i havent tried? Members Amylynn920
Has it healed but just as a tear? What I mean is it may have healed but will always look torn. Go to see a proctologist or at least a second opinion.

Members Shariana
It could have healed with excess scar tissue that can cause defecating painful. The next time you go back to your doctor, have him/her scope it out to see if that's the case. If it is, simple surgery can cut away the scar tissue. As for spending time with friends, maybe put it in a plastic bag premix it in a water bottle before you go over so you won't have to explain the jar? Members Beavis
Here is what I can think of to tell you. Take vitamins that the skin and hair need and go to a gynecologist. Lastly I would suggest finding a surgeon who specializes in the rectum and consider surgery.
Members Mikayla1
Is this tear INSIDE the rectal canal, or right on the opening? IF it is at the opening, it might be harder to heal than if it was inside. THe is very tender tissue there and can heal with excess scar tissue. You might want to have that evaluated. What medicine are you referring to - the laxative? If it still hurts when you have bowel movements it might be more like a hemmorhoid than a tear. I would definitely go to a specialist and have them check it out. If you have a tear that will not heal there could be many different reasons, as well as potential contamination risks. Members elise
You need to have a colorectal surgeon take a look. There are a lot of people with chronic anal tears, and most of them haven't had anal sex, in case you wondered. There is a relatively simple surgical procedure to fix this called a Z-plasty. I don't know exactly what it is, but it fixes the problem. Ask your doctor for a referral on this one, honey.
Guest eminatic
so, my doctor said that the next step would be to inject BOTOX!?! has anyone ever heard of this?
Members triedntru
Haven't heard of it, but I'm not in that field really. If you are wondering how valid, feel free to get a second opinion. It can't hurt you to do that vs. getting something done that could possibly hurt you. Good luck TNT
Newbie ericbuff Posted May 7, 2008 Newbie Report Share Posted May 7, 2008 so, my doctor said that the next step would be to inject BOTOX!?! has anyone ever heard of this?It sounds like you a have a fissure which is a crack in the rectum. I had this several years ago- not from anal sex- it just formed and can come on like hemmoroids sometimes do. The treatment which I took is an ointment with nitroglyceron in it. It started to heal almost immediatly and was pretty much totally healed within a few weeks! The ointment was created to treat heart patients and is applied to the chest for those patients. You need to use a DILUTED version of this ointment. BE SURE TO USE THE DILUTED VERSION- It has 1/10 the percentage of nitroglyceron as the heart ointment does. The pharmancy mixes it special for this treatment purpose and you aplly to the rectum outside and inside with your finger- you use gloves to apply- it is powerful stuff even in a diluted state- it aborbes through the skin almost immediately. I think any rectal surgeon is aware of this new treatment and I would expect them to prescribe this as normal protocol. Surgery is the last resort. The ointment works becasue it increases blood flow to the rectum and relaxes the muscle tisuue there which allows the tissue to heal. Also you'll find it gives you a head rush for a few mintes and may cause a headache for a little while but it works!Good Luck!
Members Mikayla1
I have heard of this, actually. It is commonly used when women have bad episiotomies after childbirth and they can't engage in normal sexual activity due to the pain. Sometimes it is lidocaine they inject, or botox. What this does is 'deaden' the muscles there, allows you to relax and the tear to heal - and for you to stop having pain.
Guest eminatic
hmmm i WAS prescribed this medicine but i did not know it needed to be applied INSIDE. neither my doctor nor the pharmacist gave me instruction on how to use it, and it didnt say much in the little pamphlet. all the pharmacist said was "use very little"perhaps i will dig the stuff up and try it again
Members cmwise1
Botox will relax the sphincter because each time you defecate you have pain and muscle spasms that cause the tear to open. The nitroglycerin does the same thing but the dosage is harder to control. It's the muscle spasms that contribute to the pain, open the tear, cause you not to want to defecate and there is a vicious circle here. I'd suggest one or the other treatment...with which ever one you are most comfortable. I had Botox injections for tension related migraines and it helped. Good luck..this sounds like quite an ordeal ...hopefully it will come to an end soon.
