Members sun_flower969
I saw this yesterday on Facebook. I am appalled at the outfits these little girls are wearing! I mean COME ON!! I think I have a similar ensemble in my lingerie collection! Is it really necessary to sexualize our children??What do you think?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qxp-loXjNS0
Members ilovebabyjada
oh my god! i cannot believe that! there is no need to "sex up" little girls!! the dance moves were something you see in music videos and yeah, that outfit is way to "bedroomish" -- these baby outfits, I think are also wrong... Members ladylove
What the heck!!!?????? I find it extremely distasteful AND shame of their parents for thinking it's ok or even cute....but thats just me... I'm pretty conservative
Members sun_flower969
I was just having a discussion about this with a friend of mine. Her kids have been in dance since they were small. She feels it is a shame that the only thing being focused on is their costumes. Granted, these little girls kick ass!! They are very talented! but I can't escape the fact that they look like they are wearing something that could be sold at Frederick's of Hollywood! Members ilovebabyjada
i agree that those girls kicked butt, but to see them dressed like that. I can see them growing up to be the "mean girls" that feel like they are better & sexier then everyone else...
Members mystofpric
Umm so someone mentioned that their outfits looked like something Frederick's of Hollywood would sell. Almost identical. http://www.fredericks.com/Satin_amp%3B_Mesh_Two-Piece_Set/45001,default,pd.html?cgid=br18 and that was just the first I came across. I was in a talent show in the 8th grade, I was almost banned because the song had a lyric "Am I sexual?" I'm 24,what happen in the last 12 years? I don't understand why the teacher would put them in that, or why the parents would agree to it... what is the world coming to. My daughter already looks at other girls and compares herself, she's only 5 for crying out loud. she's going to grow up thinking she's too fat, or whatever!! this world is sick sometimes. Members mailahn97
gross, sick and wrongThis is just unbelievable. I have a 7 year old girl and I would never let her dress or dance in that way. She performs in plays and various other things. It is hard enough as girls at this age already are getting into boys, how they dress and putting others down. Yes I said boys. That started last year in kindergarten. To the point one girl asked one of the boys if he thought she was sexy....she was 6. It is really sad. What happened to enjoying your childhood. Too many parents are making the children grow up too quick. For instance look at the pageant moms. Some are fine and the kids enjoy it...some the moms go so overboard that it is rediculous. I really feel bad for the kids.
Members ladylove
As you all know my girls are a bit older than most of yours. They started dance at around 5 years old and one continued till she was 15. I have NEVER seen a costume like the above one. Sure they can be more sexy than I like but they were never anything like that. The combination of all three elements just makes those LITTLE GIRLS look ridiculous to me. Dance has splits, hip movements, etc.... but it's the combination of all elements that will make it or break it. I still say shame on the parents! Let little girls BE little girls; their childhood is way to short as it is. Their innocence is such a gift!
Members Mikayla1
As a parent, this disgusts me. I would NEVER allow my daughter to wear anything like this (granted, I have boys). I do not know how these parents can justify this - not even close. In a world where child pornography, pedophilia and sex slavery for adolescents runs rampant, we should be protecting our children from being viewed like sexual objects (and I am sorry, but I believe putting your child in something like this DOES sexuall expose and exploit her). We need to stop putting our children in shorts that read 'JUICY' on the ass, and start realizing that we live in a world where perverts look at the juicy and think the most disgusting things. This is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! However out here and I'm sure in many, many places the juicy thing isn't about sex, it's about status. That being said, I still don't advocate 'juicy wear' for kids. think it's ridiculous. Members littlemissnonamegirl
As a dancer and a person who grew up in that performance thing... my mother never let me wear outfits like that for my recitals or shows. EVER. Thank heavens my dance teachers never enforced that stuff either. Our outfits were always age appropriate and if we did wear a mid-drift or skimpy top we ALWAYS wore a nude leotard or something underneath to conceal the areas along with tights. It sickens me when I see pictures of my old studio now...times have changed...and the clothes are just getting skimpier and skimpier. Even now, I mean I have less say over what I wear because if you want the money and to keep your contract you do it, lol...but I think even our outfits now in modern or ballet will NEVER compare to those young girls' outfits along with many other crazy deranged teachers out there putting little ones in them OY.Haha. Members angelkisses98
It's a shame because the girls are AWESOME dancers!! However, nothing like parents whoring your children out..I mean come on! I don't care how much talent my daughters has, I will NEVER allow my 7 year old to wear anything like that. I don't know if parents these days realize how that is going to affect those children as they grow up. and being a (very) young mom makes me feel so protective of my daughter. she is already "falling inlove with her prince" and she's only 5! the world is getting sexual so much younger now. I know kindergarten children on my school bus talking about 'magic sex'they were asked by another student what the hell that was, and they said "it's where you take off your clothes, put a blanket between you two & have sex" what is the world coming too! Members mystofpric
I'm glad lil miss chimmed in. I don't get it, I mean I used to think that dance costumes were skimpy before but DAMN. Thanks Sunny for helping with the link. I don't even wear stuff like that in the bedroom. Okay well similar but I prefer a little more coverage. I don't understand who convinced these parents (cause they are defending the decision) that is okay and normal! I mean as just a human being i think this is wrong. Its our job to protect kids and give them a chance to just be kids. I think that's the bigger problem here is the stripping of innocence. I mean that's just terrible. What happened to playing princess or house? And by playing house I don't mean shacking up with someone. yes taking your daughter to dance lessons is good for their self-esteem and coodination and everything else, but there is a line between helping and hurting.
