The idea being that if a person were led (like a person walking a spiral staircase) inward to their core, they would discover the deeper truths of their psyche. This in turn, would free them form different forms of neurosis. Freud noted that patterns and repetitions would appear in the free association that would indicate the major themes and issues of the person's life. I wish I had a computer big enough and a program complex enough to discover the patterns thus far in this 'free association'!You are right..it is fascinating. I have noted the repetition, too, and obviously there is a focus on sex, but also on commitment and romance. There are also little side tracks into humor and randomness. My belief is the thread shows those on it are in to sex, but also into our SOs and have a good senses of humor and lightness about their personalities.
