Was it cuz of the selection, privacy, or just general level of comfort there?Of course, I LOVE this site!!! But, I also like getting out there and seeing what's out there. BTW, TooTimid is comparable to any sex-toy shop I've seen so far, and then, even if the S&H may make it a bit higher, the one year guarantee really makes THIS the place to get stuff, IMO. And, no, I don't get PAID to say that! Well, I've been to several stores (I am a shopaholic no matter what the occassion or reason for the trip) catering to adults. There was one in Maine, in a town called Lewiston, called The Midnight Boutique, which had a great selection of lingerie, and a half way decent selection of toys. I liked it in there because the people were down to earth, friendly, and nice.Here in Texas, so far, there are 2 stores that I've found that I love. One is called Zone D'Erotica, in Humble, which is a suburb of Houston, which has a large selection of things from "stripper shoes" to toys, to lingerie, DVDs, and things for men. But they're a bit on the expensive side. And, of course, no guarantees. They do, however, try the item out infront of you for you. There are a few of XXX Mulitplexes, which are HUGE! Their salesfloor is about the same size as a regular (not super) Wal*Mart!!! They have EVERYTHING!! Including peep shows too. And they're reasonable in price.I have to laugh though. In Maine, there doesn't seem to be a lot of regulation on sex toys, where down here, it's borderline insane!! Read my "stupid sex laws" post in the Politics forum for more info on that!! I like the adam & eve store near my house but on the other side of town is another store which is not a chain which I like. Prices may very so it pays to shop around and each store has it pluses and minus. But the atmospher is the main thing. All the shops I like are run and operated by women. Usually the gal behind the corner is younger and kind of hot looking but I can spend hours there talking to them as if I was a co-worker friend. I don't frequent them alot but when I drop in which is sometimes once a year the people remember me and ask questions that they couldn't if I never gave them the private information to begin with. Anyway one will notice when driving to Oklahoma, when you get to the boarder on the the Oklahoma side there is a multitude of Indian casinos, and the first thing you see on the Texas side is a great big sign for a XXX video store. Welcome to Texas!!!Across the street from my fav burrito place, are 2 stores in the same shopping center. Condoms To Go, and Condom Sense. I've only been in one once and that's a long story. There is a chain called "Christie's Toy Box" that has 13 locations in Oklahoma, and 1 in Texas (which the article I just read about outlawing sex shops in Alabama said they were illegal there). They have a website, too, but this one is still the best! If that is not the type of sex shop we are talking about, then someone please enlighten me!I have been to Christie's, but prefer shopping TooTimid, mainly because of the reviews and descriptions. The only draw back is not being able to take it home with you right away, but the shipping here is fast, and the anticipation if fun. Members promiscuouseuphoria Posted May 21, 2007 Members Report Share Posted May 21, 2007 I'd have to say that Kitty's is my favorite adult store, or more specifically Kitty's East, as I haven't been to the other locations. Selection is a large part of my feelings in this, as well as environment, even if their locations are a little...well...unsurprising. The biggest contributor, though, was the employees. Friendly, talkative, polite - they were absolutely lovely and I have to say I had the best time going through the store and asking all sorts of questions, comparing opinions on flavored lubes, etc and so forth. However, if in need there's one gem in the bunch, The Crypt (off Park & University). This store absolutely ROCKS. There's a tremendous selection of Everything, be it leather, metal, clothing, collars, toys, etc...... I have to say for a shop its well balanced for whatever mood you are in! I have to say for a shop its well balanced for whatever mood you are in! It was maybe 5 or 10 years ago I was downtown in Seattle right by the Pike Place Market. I turned around saw a sign and walked inside this store where the first thing I saw was a fine selection of kinky leather wear. I spent an hour inside inspecting the leather goods. I got some risque postcards. I'm not positive but I think it might have been the first BabesinToyland store. Another woman owned company. They run workshops for everything sexual. I had alot of fun there even tho alot of what I was looking at was embarassing me. It was definately the best toy shop I'd ever been to if only for the vast black leather collection. Members chloegirl Posted December 4, 2008 Members Report Share Posted December 4, 2008 There's an X-Mart here that has a fairly good stock and if they don't have what you want they will try to order it, but honestly, other than my favorite Doc Johnson I got there, TT has the best quality products I've come across and they're fast getting them to you. First time I went in there I was kind of embarrassed, worried about what people who saw me in there would think, but now when I go in I don't have a problem asking about anything, talking to the sales guys, and taking my time looking. Was able to drag hubby in one time and offered him carte blanche but he was as nervous as a school girl and didn't even pick anything out! Why worry? We're adults and anyone in there is looking at the same stuff so how on earth can they judge you? I look forward to checking out some other places in neighboring cities....hey that might be a fun vacation theme....travel the states and visit all the adult stores! I do mostly shop on line though! I have to bring a grab gift to a little get together I am going to next Fri so I plan on stopping by one of these places soon! LMAO Now that it's been a couple yrs since that post, I've also discovered Candies, which is a small chain, and they have a great selection here in East TX as well.
