Newbie driveit Posted July 12, 2007 Newbie Report Share Posted July 12, 2007 I am curious as to why a blow job is called a blow job. When I am doing it, I am not "blowing" anything. Wouldn't it be more appropriately called a "suck job"? Or am I the only one who has ever considered this?

Members nosleepnmesa
There is a ungoing joke about that around my house and has been for many years. I love to give my Husband a blow job, remember I said blow-job *hehe*. Sometimes he will even ask for one and well I blow on him and we kinda giggle about it. Why they call it that I will never know. I will say though it sure does sound better then a suck job to me.

Members whittibo
Another one for me is "giving head" I understand this in the way a woman gives a man head is she sucks his head. But some men refer to giving their wives head. That makes no sense to me.
Tyger
Ginger, that link was awesome!I guess that can all be applied to the phrase "That just blows!" too then!

Members tjdehya
The reason it’s called a BJ is because that’s what a woman literally did before sucking became popular. She would put the penis in her mouth, mouth wide open and blow so that only the lips made contact. Sucking only became popular after women learned how to suck without making their teeth touch the penis. I am sure that I am not the only one that has scars on their penis from inexperienced girls learning to give "SuckJobs"

Members Nuffsaid
I am curious as to why a blow job is called a blow job. When I am doing it, I am not "blowing" anything. Wouldn't it be more appropriately called a "suck job"? Or am I the only one who has ever considered this? Lol.. husband and I had the exact same discussion this week! I think "blow" comes from the idea of the penis being a "horn" shaped -as in bugle or something.. lol.. I know. It's wierd. And yes, a Suck job is much more accurate. Come to think of it, "giving head" is also not very accurate (or so we concluded) since you're actually GETTING head - the penis head, in your mouth. Words are wierd, I guess. But whatever you call it, he doesn't ever even have to ask.
