Members Shoop
I think it does.I think women compare themselves to these perfect plastic babes with PERFECT bodies (in high end porn, anyways). And we can't compare. And so we (some of us, anyways) think we aren't as desirable as those physically PERFECT 20 year old's...I think (in some cases) that MEN also don't know what normal women LOOK Like anymore either. THEY compare their women to PORN women and expect them to LOOK like that. And it can effect men's desire level for the REAL women in their lives.Of course, i believe this because I have personal experience with BOTH viewpionts.Interesting N. Wolfe article which supports what I am saying...http://nymag.com/nymetro/news/trends/n_9437/DEBATE!

Members Mikayla1
I have watched a lot of porn, and I have NEVER (and I mean NEVER) compared myself in a negative way to a porn star! I wouldn't want to be a 'plastic girl' - although a nice pair of fake boobs would be cool! I know that they are airbrushed or retouched and fake baked. I have no problem admiring them for what they are - adult entertainment. I don't much worry about what my hubby thinks either, he says he loves me, and that is good enough. Do I think it skews most women's view of themselves? ABSOLUTELY! I think the entire entertainment biz (adult and otherwise) is just wreaking of self-hate. Women always compare themselves to the ANgelina Jolies or the Jenna Jamesons of the world. Also, if we were honest, we would say we probably compare ourselves to the fit and fab woman at our gym also. We all compare and look and contrast - but we don't need to feel badly if we are not carbon copies of these gals - we are all beautiful in some way, shape or form - and we can be our own porn star! Members thurisas
Personally I can't imagine ever wanting to be with a porn star. They may, in general, look decent but most of them look or act so skanky that its something of a turnoff. Give me a real woman with real curves and a real personality anytime and I'll choose her over the porn star.I would hope most women would take the viewpoint Mikayla does to porn stars. They're there for entertainment and the hardware is attached to their bodies for that express purpose to make them more marketable to the people who just want to get their rocks off and the superficial people in the world. The real value of a woman is what she puts emotionally was well as physically into a relationship no matter how brief it may be.Randy. Tyger
This topic came up a while ago, and it's nice to revisit!I watch porn on a semi-regular basis. I need to drop a few pounds, and am aware of it. Do I compare? Absolutely. I think all women do. Does it affect me badly, to watch porn stars go at it? No.I agree, it definitely depends on how one "views" porn unto itself. It can also depend on how their SO's verbalize their preferences. If someone says "Oh wow, she's HOT", that could be taken 2 ways. An honest statement of a hot girl, or depending on how it was said, it could make someone feel inadequate. It also depends on the woman's self esteem. If it's low, she will be uncomfortable with all of this.Personally, IMO, it's not PORN that's really the issue. Now, if a man (or woman) prefers watching porn to actual sex with his GF/wife, then, yes, this is a problem. The majority of media focuses on thin, small women. Models are suppose to be rail thin, and boobless. This trend, all the commercializm, and stigma of being "fat", can affect anyone, male or female. If men grow up viewing their Daddy's porn, magazines, and so on, without proper guidance, it most definitely can affect them & how they view women. What everyone needs to learn, when viewing porn, that it's a lot like watching a theater play. Everything's accentuated. Darker makeup, outrageously long nails, huge boobs, huge dicks, big muscles, EXTREME close ups, big hair. Why? To catch your attention. It's also fantasy. Porn is really designed to entertain and spark creativity. It's NOT designed to be educational as to how to MAKE LOVE to a lover. Porn=fucking. It's like anything else, you need to be taught how to view porn, in an objective manner, so that you can enjoy it. Yes, you can learn something from it, get ideas, and so on, but it's not made to be a "How-To" guide.

Members kjellis
I think porn skews the way that teens view sex. I think we all found out our first time that it isn't how it goes in the movie or the magazine. And then even when you have some experience that not every encounter is going to end up with the girl on her knees at the end waiting to get a load blown all over her.As for body image, I don't know if porn has as big an impact on women thinking that they have to look a certain way as the modeling industry does. Most girls in porn films have some meat on their bones. And really some if not half are NOT what I call attractive. Where as fashion models generally are these 5'10" 95lb poles that have never kept down a full meal in their life.

Members Grumpy Bear
Do I think that women compare themselves to what they see on Tv\movies\magazines\etc... I say absolutely. And it is needlessly ruining their self esteem... Now here's a clue from this man's perspective - there is a reason that the home made stuff, the amatuer stuff, real people, is getting more and more popular.... the 14 to 24 year olds may like the big fake boobies and such but then again how many of them really care if the woman is remotely turned on as long as they let them pump away for a few frantic minutes until they get theirs and say, "Wasn't I great, did you cum too?" .... the reality and variety of life are much better.....For us it's about the journey and not the destination....real men - maybe I should say men that are confident and mature want reality and not plastic fantastic perfection (even when they fantasize).... And this brings me to another thought along these lines..... Strip clubs.... personally, I would rather see something that is closer to a burlesque show..... tease me, make me wonder what's hidden under that loose blouse or skirt.... Be sexy build up the anticipation.. make me wait a little. our mind is our biggest and most complex sex organ. I don't really get anything from watching an aerobics instructor walk out, get naked, roll around whipping her bald and bone dry pussy like a rented mule and expect me to toss her a dollar bill. There's nothing sensual about it, just "here it is now gimme a dead president..... and no, there's no way in hell you can touch it".... why bother? Members ladylove
If you get a MILF type porn most are not "Barbi Doll" looking. Most look like regular type next door women in hot clothing. I do not really like the 21 yr old with big fake tits. Nina Heartly is a good one to watch,,she loves stockings and high heels!Yea,,strip clubs are for loosers,,Why give some girl all your money from a ATM in the club and go home with blue balls. I'd rather play with my wife,,,I pick her outfit,,(no underwear),,,go out for a few drinks and slide my hand up her short skirt to feel her wet pussy as some one sees me do it. Then we go home and have wild/hot sex. We are looking to go to a "adult" vacation very soon. Here is a tip,,Ask her to get "sexied up" and then giver her a drink or two,,tell her how hot she is and lucky you are,,take her out for a glass of wine,, she can see a couple guys look at her, dont get hung up on it,enjoy it,go to a hotel or home,,,then have a massage for her and make her feel like a Queen! The next day she will be VERY happy.A Real Man!

Members DADT
If God knew that sex & physical appearance were causing so much anguish, she'd be very upset with us.Porn is just another kind of entertainment. A fantasy world for escape. It is meant to be extreme otherwise it wouldn't be so stimulating. And that's how it should be judged. And we should never, ever, use it to judge ourselves or anyone else. Most people don't expect or want their fellow "average citizens" to look like or act like the people in adult movies. Turn off the TV & throw out the glossy magazines. All the things we think we don't like about ourselves would stop mattering. Think of all the free time you would have to feel good about yourself & your SO. Time you could spend doing.....I dunno......exploring......delighting......enrapturing!
